SFC is Hiring - Customer Support Specialist

Small Farm Central provides technology tools for direct-marketing farms across the US and Canada. Currently about 700 farms use the service. Most support concerns our Member Assembler software which enables business management of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs for farms. Key to our success is responsive, helpful, friendly customer support that makes the lives of our customers easier!

 

Our new customer support specialist will join a small team on the front lines providing support over email, phone and chat. This will be a challenging position that will require learning the ins-and-outs of our software, communicating with customers, and reporting back to the development team when problem areas are identified. Ideally, the position would expand to overseeing marketing efforts and social media outreach.

  • Full-time position with some flexibility (32-40 hours/week)

Requirements:

  • Highly organized to manage multiple goals simultaneously

  • Independent and curious -- find answers to farmers’ questions

  • Puzzle-solving -- deductive ability to get to root causes of problems

  • Comfort with friendly phone support -- support is unscripted and requests are often unique

  • Positive mindset -- serve often as first point of contact for new customer leads

  • Some HTML/CSS experience

  • Ability to explain technical concepts in a non-technical manner

  • Social media and marketing experience a plus

  • Technical writing experience a plus

 

Tasks

 

This is a small company, so tasks will vary from day-to-day and week-to-week. We welcome the creativity of our customer support person and the position can grow with the employee. This is an exciting chance to have a meaningful impact on the everyday lives of small farmers across the country by providing a technology solution that helps them manage and market their business.

 

While the main focus of this position is on customer support, our ideal candidate would be able to offer assistance in other areas such as social media and marketing, sales (both inbound and outbound) and special events (conferences, webinars, etc.).
