Adding a Photo to a Farmer Defined Page or Blog Entry

Throughout the control panel, you will see text boxes that have a toolbar on the top of them with options to bold text, change text size, create links, and more. Then first screenshot shows how the toolbar looks.

One option that farmers will often want to use is adding a photo to your content. Anywhere you see the toolbar, you can also add a photo. Follow the directions below to add a photo:

  1. First, the photo you want to add must be in your photo gallery. Click here for instructions on how to upload a photo to your photo gallery.
  2. Once the photo is uploaded, go to the page that controls the content that you want to add a photo to (blog entry, farmer defined page, or other). In the toolbar, click the button that looks like a photo of a tree as seen in the screenshot below (see the button circled in red?):
  3. Click on the button and a pop-up box entitled "Insert/edit image" will appear. In the dropdown box "Image list" is a list of the photos that are in your photo gallery (identified by the caption you defined for the photo when you uploaded it).
  4. Select the photo you want to add to your page and then click insert in the bottom left of the pop-out box. The pop-out will disappear and your image will show up in the content area of the page.
  5. You will probably notice that the image is quite large. To resize it, left click on the image once. You will see a series of square white boxes appear around the image (see the red circles in the screen shot below). You can resize the image by clicking on the boxes and dragging them around the screen. Play around with this functionality to get an idea of how it works.
  6. When you click submit to save the content file, the photo will now appear on your public site!

Advanced: Alignment

Do you want your photos to float the left or right of the page and allow the text to wrap around the photos? There is an easy way to do this using the editor toolbar.
  1. Click on the photo in question -- you will see the white "resize" boxes appear around the outside of the photo.
  2. Now click the "insert/edit image" button in the toolbar which is on the 3rd row and looks like a framed photograph of a tree.
  3. The "Insert/Edit" image window will pop up. Click the appearance tab and then see the alignment drop-down.
  4. Choose right or left alignment to throw the photo to the left or right side of the page. The other alignment options are not as useful. When you make changes, see the preview to the right.
  5. You will likely want some space between your photo and the text. Use the V-Space and H-Space options right below the alignment drop-down. A value of "10" is a good start, so put 10 in both V-Space and H-Space.
  6. Click update and watch the text wrap around your photo!
