Create Private Farmer Defined Page

A private farmer defined page requires a login from your customers before they can view the page. This may be useful for any information you want to keep away from the general public such as CSA newsletters, wholesale information, employee information, board member materials, and etc.

  1. Create a user group that will hold all users that are able to access your private page: Administrate / Users / Manage Groups
  2. Now create the users that can access the page and join them to this group: Administrate / Users / Add User At the bottom of the Add User page, you will see checkboxes for each group that you have created. Remember to check the checkbox of the group you created in the first step.  You may choose to leave the "Notify the User of Creation by Email" checkbox checked, because it will automatically generate an email to user with the randomly generated password in the email.
  3. Now create your Farmer Defined Page as normal:Create Content / Farmer Defined Pages / New FDP Create a title, some text, and save the page.
  4. When you are back on the main Farmer Defined Pages screen, find your new FDP and click on "Restrict Access" on the right side of the table:  The main Farmer Defined pages screen. See the "restricted access" link in red.
  5. The resulting screen will allow you to restrict access to this Farmer Defined Page. Below "Select the User Groups that can Access this Page" choose the groups who can view this page by checking the checkbox associated with the group or groups you created in step #1.
  6. When a user visits the page they will be greeted with a login screen something like this: The login page for a restricted Farmer Defined Page. If a user does not know their password, they can use the "Reset Your Password" link on that page to securely reset their password to something they know. This process verifies that the user owns the email address in question.
  7. Tip! If you have a number of private pages, you may have your users login on your login page: http://www.yourfarm.com/login (replace yourfarm.com with your site's address) After they login, they will be greeted with a list of the private FDPs that they can access under a heading of "My Content":"Your Content" gives your users an easy way to access their private content.
